I want to believe it’s standard đ to lose your way or not know how to exit the metro underground at least once in the EU. It happened to me in Barcelona, the first time I visited, and now in Frankfurt. Well I had a “swell” time đ€Ł navigating the metro underground before figuring out the exitđ, and coming out to this beautiful buildingâI just had to take a picture.
TikTok says you havenât been to Germany if you havenât visited Römerberg (Old Town), and I CONCUR! Römerberg was my main reason for going to Frankfurt, and I didnât regret it.
After figuring my way out of the underground, I headed to Römerberg. When I got there, saying I was ecstatic would be an understatement. Iâm a lover of colors, and the sight of its colorful and beautifully arranged buildings was just amazing. When I saw similar buildings in the Netherlands, Römerberg came to mind and will forever be a reference point.
Just so you know, Römerberg is a must-visit.
Afterwards, I took a stroll around the Old Town area. On my way to St. Peterâs Cathedral, I came across a building opposite it where some Asians were keenly taking pictures of and with. I decided to follow suit because, one thing about Asians, they always do their research, so you canât go wrong with them. I took my pictures, but later, after talking to a few people, I realized it might not be a special building per se. Thereâs speculation that it was probably a tax collection building because, in the olden days, churches were built via donations and the collection office was usually close to the church.
Next, I went to the Eurotower and loved the sight because, MONEYYYYY đ€Łđ¶. I enjoyed my solo picture there, and that sculpture is a highlight and my favorite âbackgroundâ in addition to Römerberg.
On the metro to the Iron Footbridge, I found my shoe twin đ€Ł.
I visited the Iron Footbridge. I was surprised to see it because I thought France was the only country with such a bridge with the locks, but apparently, from discussions with a few Europeans, most European countries seem to have at least one. So I guess itâs a European thing.
The footbridge is 2 minutes from Römerberg. Donât be like me and go to the Eurotower first and then return to the footbridge.
Depending on your itinerary, if you plan to only take pictures like I did, you can visit the footbridge after Römerberg before proceeding to the Cathedral, Eurotower, and other places.
Then I visited Kleinmarkthalle, and it was underwhelmingđ for me. If you’re familiar with Barcelona, itâs like a lite version of La Boqueria Market. As I walked around, I kept questioning what made me add it to my itinerary đ€Ł, but I figured it was the flowers. Anyways, itâs a minus for međ„±.
At this point, I was famished and had to eat. I visited Zeil Mall and grabbed about three meals đ.
As the day was winding down, I visited the Alte Oper. Blessed be the guy who helped with my pictures here because I love them so muchđ.
I was on my way to the Main Tower when I stopped by a random street to take pictures and videos because of the lights and “star”đ€Ł . I mean Iâm a star girl, so why not?
Afterwards, I proceeded to Main Tower to view Frankfurt from the top. Seeing Frankfurt from this view is amazinggggggggggggggggggggđ. I wish I could have taken better pictures. There was so much cold and it was windy, so I couldn’t get someone to help with a “perfect” picture.
I wanted to visit the zoo but didnât have enough timeđ.
Overall, I enjoyed my day trip to Frankfurt, and let me tell you: The concept of a day trip is amazing and should be utilized by every tourist.
P.S: All the places I visited were free, except for the Main Tower, where I paid 9 euros. You can buy the ticket online or onsite
